WELCOME

Welcome to Jamul Intermediate School.  We at JIS are proud to provide your children with wonderful educational opportunities.  Our rich and stimulating learning environments are created by a caring staff.  Jamul Intermediate teachers have high expertise in all subject areas.  They are completely up to date on current educational research.  Our entire staff is dedicated to the well being of each and every child on site.

Educational opportunity highlights available at our school are the English Language Acquisition Program, Orff-Schulwerk music classes for all students, visual art classes for all students (18 sessions per school year), Band, Musical Theater, Student Council, Chorus, Orff Instrumental Group, Recorder All Stars, Track Blazers, wonderful after school enrichment classes for all students, Kids Club (6:00-6:00 program), computer lab, internet access in all classrooms, and a science lab.  We are a PeaceBuilder School and we are teaching our students the “I CARE” (Integrity, Cooperation, Attitude, Respect, and Empathy) program.

We couldn’t possibly do all of this without the help of our remarkable volunteers.  Volunteer opportunities exist through the PTA, art docent program, Rolling Readers, School Site Council, Strategic Planning, English Language Advisory Council and others.  We are delighted that our elementary schools benefit from over 500 volunteer hours each month.

• 111th Congress Time Capsule Reception - May 13, 2009
  The Jamul Intermediate School is listed as a participating school for the 111th Congress Time Capsule Reception that was held on Wednesday, May 13, 2009 in Statuary Hall located in the United States Capitol. Mrs. Hastings, Mrs. Rosenthal, and Mrs. Stewart's students have some of their work included in the time capsule. The District would like to recognize Principal Liz Bystedt, the three JIS Teachers listed above and their students for taking part in this very special honor!

THE BOOKMOBILE IS COMING TO JAMUL SCHOOLS!!!! The East County Bookmobile will be visting Jamul schools every 2nd and 4th Tuesday for the months of January, Febraury and March.
