Dear Eagle Families,
We are excitedly getting ready for the 2010-11 school year. Classrooms are being cleaned, scheduling is
ongoing, and teachers are planning… it’s a busy place around here.
I am happy to report that looking at our preliminary API data (state requirements) show that OGMS made
huge increases in language arts, social studies, science, and math. Your student’s individual test scores were
mailed on Wednesday, August 11th. If you did not receive them, please contact the office so we can get you
a copy. We are so proud of the work and dedication of our students and staff throughout the year. There
are 5 students who earned a perfect score of 600 in a subject area too!!! We continue to work to meet the
Federal Targets for No Child Left Behind/Race to the Top (AYP).
On August 24th at 3:00 in the gym, we will host “Fly Like and Eagle” our new student orientation. At that
time we will have representatives from PTSA, the PE department, Food Services, Kids Club, After School
Programs, and of course you’ll be able to pick up your schedule.
For those students who are returning students, you may join us from 4:00 – 6:00 PM.
All students should have received a letter outlining our dress code last week. If you did not, please look in
our handbook on this page before you go shopping.
Again, I am very proud of our students’ work throughout the last year and look forward to working with
each of you this year.
Sincerely,
Liz Bystedt
Principal
